Prof. Risto received an M.S. in Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) in 1986, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA in 1990. His current research focuses on methods and applications of neuro-evolution, as well as neural network models of natural language processing and vision; he is an author of over 500 articles in these research areas.

Ali Hadi

Professor at American University in Cairo, Egypt

Ali Hadi is Distinguished University Professor and former Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science, Founder of the Actuarial Science Program (2004), Founder of the Data Science Program (2019), and former Vice Provost and Director of Graduate Studies and Research at the American University in Cairo (AUC). He obtained his Ph. D. degree with honors in statistics and computer information systems from New York University in 1984. Prior to joining the American University in Cairo in 2000, he served as a Stephen Weiss Presidential Fellow and Professor of Statistics at Cornell University. Hadi is currently Professor Emeritus at Cornell University where, during the years 1984-2000, he served as assistant, associate, and full professor, as well as the chair of the Department of Social Statistics. While at Cornell, Hadi received several scholarly honors and awards including the Amoco Foundation Faculty Award, the Outstanding Educator Award, and the Schering-Plough Award for Exemplary Teaching. At AUC, he also received the President’s Distinguished Service Award and the Excellence in Research and Creative Endeavor Award. He was elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association and Fellow of the African Academy of Science.

Saeed Sharif

Dr Saeed Sharif is the Course Leader for MSc Computer Science and MSc Computer Science with industrial placement at the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. He has a PhD in artificial intelligence from Brunel University London.
His research interests and expertise include Artificial Intelligence, Innovative Tele-Health, Medical Technology, Digital Health Care, Medical Assistive Technology, Medical Image Analysis and Visualization, Intelligent Diagnosis Systems, Smart Biomedical Image and Bio Signal Acquisition (MRI, PET, EEG).
He is working closely with clinicians and policymakers nationally and internationally to improve clinical settings and healthcare systems. He has led the research development of different research projects associated with many industries and NHS trusts. He has developed his research with the goal of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of medical and health care systems.
Dr Saeed is a member of the technical committee of many international conferences, such as the IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications and the IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology. He participated in many national and international conferences, e.g. ICIP. He has served as a reviewer for many journals, e.g. IET IPJ, Elsevier CBMJ.
He is a Guest Editor at an international journal. He has published more than 53 technical papers and articles in highly reputable journals, international conferences and book chapters, such as Elsevier Applied Soft Computing, Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, IEEE Access, etc.
He received many academic and research awards. He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a member of the British Computer Society.
